Every summer, when we have lightning storms, forest fires pop up. Last night and the night before we had some strong lightning and a large number of smaller fires popped up. I found a map showing all of the fires and put our location with a yellow x on it.

All morning, helicopters have been buzzing the house. The helicopters are used for fire extinguishing with huge water buckets attached to them. The closest fire is approximately 3 miles north from us, so far the winds have been blowing away. (they did switch this morning for about 1 hours and drove the fire this way). It is smoky and hot in the valley. Hopefully, they get all of the fires under control before the winds pick up this afternoon.

On the good side, a number of the fires are burning in wilderness area and some in the area that burned over about 10 years ago.
